Laini is an actor, writer and artist based in New York City. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, graduating summa cum laude and receiving the NYU Tisch scholarship, as well as the merit-based NYU Supplemental Scholarship, throughout her studies. While at Tisch, Laini trained in the Meisner Studio and furthered her classical training through the British American Drama Academy’s Midsummer in Oxford Programme in association with the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale.

As a playwright, Laini is drawn to intimate, voice-driven stories that are…pretty weird, and deeply human. She is the playwright of “The Dirty Ladiez of P&P,” a full-length play following a high school Pride and Prejudice fan club. The play is currently being developed through staged readings around New York City, including performances at The Tank, Brooklyn Comedy Collective, New York Winterfest, and a really cutie backyard in Brooklyn.

Laini grew up acting, dancing, writing, reading voraciously and playing make-believe in the north suburbs of Chicago, surrounded by woods, Lake Michigan and a deep sense of curiosity. She studied ballet and modern dance at Dance Center Evanston, performed on the stage of the Children’s Theatre of Winnetka and trained at Piven Theatre Workshop, where she went on to become a member of the professional youth company, Performance Project. She spent summers creating at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan and later worked as a camp counselor, teaching the imaginative play and creative movement that helped shape her journey as a storyteller.

Laini lives in the East Village with her two roommates; she loves staying up late to read weird plays with them at their kitchen table.
